Medicinal cannabis products are unapproved medicines in Australia. Prescribers access them through TGA pathways.
SAS A
Special Access Scheme Category A. A notification pathway for registered medical practitioners treating seriously ill patients.
SAS B
An application pathway for medical and nurse practitioners. The TGA assesses clinical justification before approval.
AP
Authorised Prescriber. Approval to prescribe specific products to a defined patient group without a separate approval each time.
