Medicinal cannabis is legal with a prescription. To get a prescription, talk to your doctor about your symptoms and ask if medicinal cannabis is right for you. Find out more information below.

What does medical cannabis access look like for a patient in Australia

Hale Farm products are unapproved medicinal goods which are available for access through the Therapeutic Goods Administration:

  • Special Access Scheme
  • Authorised Prescriber Scheme

To obtain medicinal cannabis, you should consult a doctor to assess your eligibility. The doctor will then apply on your behalf through the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s Special Access Scheme B or Authorised Prescriber Scheme.

To be considered for medical cannabis in Australia

In Australia, certain criteria help determine if you’re eligible for medical cannabis. It usually depends on your symptoms, medical history, and whether other treatments have been tried.

Chronic Condition

Your condition should have persisted for a minimum of three months. This ensures that we focus on chronic conditions where alternative medicine has shown promising results.

Other Treatments

To be eligible you must have tried alternative treatments that didn’t provide relief for the condition or caused harmful side effects.

Not Pregnant

It’s important to note that if you are currently pregnant, breastfeeding or have a history of psychosis, medical cannabis may not be the best fit for you.
